Living ‘in the zone’!
“And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
“He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.” – 2 Sam 23:9-10 (KJV).
There is a physical, mental & emotional state any athlete, musician, preacher, military commando etc has to be in to perform at his/her best. That’s called, being ‘in the zone’! Peak performance draws from much more than ability. Visualisation won’t compensate for physical wholeness! No one can be emotionally down & perform at top form! Every ‘Idol’ contestant knows that, one tiny thing out of order will shed crucial points off your evaluation! To be at your best, you’ve got to be your best!
You know it when you’re in the zone! There’s inner freedom. There’s a sense of meaning. There’s optimism & passion. There’s unusual vigour! Everything is in perfect harmony! The preparations are done. It feels like the ‘all systems set’ light is brilliant green! The body is fit. The mind is processing right. The emotions feel good. The atmosphere is electric. Let the show begin!
Every creative person lives for moments like that. That’s when people record their most inspired & unforgettable performances! Warriors are at their best in the zone! Preaching is better in the zone! The songs are heavenly when the musician is in the zone! The marketer commands more influence in the zone! Even the ‘funny headaches’ disappear & romance fires burn brighter in the zone! Ah! The zone! That’s why Peter suggested that tabernacles be erected at the mount of transfiguration!
But then, the that ‘other you’ returns! Others notice it when it all comes together, but, you’re the first to notice, when it starts coming apart! You know it, when you’re not your best self & unprepared to give your best performance!
a feeling that something is missing, loss of excitement & concentration, body not clicking with emotion & will, inability to trust people & processes, inner weakness, uneasiness & anxiety, colourless environment & atmosphere.
And then, it’s that ‘terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day’ experience for you & everyone else!
Question: How do I guarantee a continual ‘in the zone’ performance?’
-a- keep your spiritual life on fire & practice the presence of God daily!
-b- brainwash your subconscious with your beliefs & control your self talk!
-c- manage your body right & endeavour to keep in top shape physically!
-d- travel with positive energy & impose your atmosphere wherever you go!
-e- tune off from distracting voices & drop motivation draining relationships!
-f- trust your training & use intentional behaviour to charge up your emotion!
-g- don’t wait for it to come together; live as if everything is already together!
I pray that the glory of God will power your every move this week! Every outcome of this week will be supernatural! Your proofs will display God to your world in Jesus Christ name!
Much Love
